Gonepteryx rhamni hat eine fast gesamtpaläarktische Verbreitung, während fünf Arten Inselendemiten sind: Gonepteryx maderensis (Madeira), Gonepteryx cleobule (Teneriffa), Gonepteryx eversi (La Gomera), Gonepteryx palmae (La Palma) und Gonepteryx taiwana (Taiwan). Letztere Art ist die einzige nicht-paläarktische Art diieser Gattung. Dass die drei auf den Kanaren fliegenden Taxa artverschieden sind, wurde in der Literatur wiederholt erwähnt und wissenschaftlich begründet, wird aber nicht von allen Autoren akzeptiert.
